We have our final STAAR tests on May 8 (math) and May 9 (reading). The students have been working really, really hard to master fourth-grade material and skills, and I’m confident they’ll excel.
May is a very busy month! Highlights include:
May 1-5 — School book fair
May 5 — Cinco de Mayo program
May 8 — STAAR math test
May 9 — STAAR reading test
May 12 — Art field trip
May 16 — Mills retirement reception
May 17 — Courage to Stand followup
May 19 — Fourth-grade track & Field Day
May 22 — Career day
May 23 — Symphony field trip
May 25 — School talent show
May 26-29 — Memorial Day holiday
June 1 — Students’ last day
We also have a lot going on in the classroom.
With the STAAR writing test behind us, we're tackling fractured fairy tales. In reading, we'll move on to books groups with a variety of novels.
In math, we'll try our hands at coding.
And in social studies, we're seeing Texas grow and prosper in the decades after the Civil War and rejoining the United States.
