We are wrapping up our genre study with a look at biographies. We will read and analyze a biography of Lyndon Baines Johnson, which also provides solid background information for our upcoming field trip to LBJ's grandparents' homestead in Johnson City. Students will then use the same expository graphic organizer to interview a family member and write a biography. Your child should bring home the interview organizer midweek. Students also have a vocabulary unit this week.
Writers Workshop will take place in science this week, with students writing about a water particle's adventures as it experiences changing states. Students will also have a quiz on the states and changing states of mater before moving onto mixtures and solutions.
In math, we're still working to build our understanding of fractions. And we're studying the people of Texas in socials studies.
Our classroom treasure chest is running low (a good dilemma) and donations are welcome. The students have also asked for an electric pencil sharpener and new beanbags. Thanks for your support!
