I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. I found that at both school and home, it was a great chance to catch my breath and get organized after that hectic first week.
A couple of notes on homework this week:
* Students will have their first grammar packet. This is instead of spelling. On Tuesday we'll be reviewing the importance of beginning and ending punctuation. Then we'll shift our attention to capitalizing proper nouns. On Tuesday, they'll have one page to complete independently as homework. Then they'll have a packet to complete over two nights. All will be tested Friday, with a quiz that closely resembles the work they've done in their packets.
* I'll be introducing the fourth-grade book projects on Thursday before we go to the library. Your child will have a contract for you to sign and return Friday. They'll also have the instructions and rubric for the first project. Their first book title is due next Thursday, giving them a week to settle into a book.
* We're still experimenting with the new text in math; please help your child practice their basic math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) for 5-10 minutes each night.
* Don't forget that the Social Emotional Learning home activity will be given Tuesday; it's due Friday and requires a parent signature.
Thanks and have a great week!
