We also have a lot going on in the classroom.
With the STAAR writing test behind us, we're tackling fractured fairytales before giving way to a free-choice writing project that the students will "publish" in a hardcover book. In reading, we'll move on to books groups with a variety of novels.
In math, we'll revisit some of the thornier skills that fifth-grade teachers have identified: adding/subtracting mixed numbers with unlike denominators, multiplication/division fact fluency, and multi-digit multiplication and division.
In science, we’re continuing to examine our living world and adaptations.
And in social studies, we're seeing Texas grow and prosper in the decades after the Civil War and rejoining the United States.
