We have a lot going on this week ... starting with having just four days of school. With Veterans Day falling on Tuesday, school will be in session Monday and Wednesday-Friday. We will mark Veterans Day at school on Monday with a visit from Lt. Col, MacGregor followed by our schoolwide Veterans Day program.
We will also begin five days of district benchmark testing on Monday. Students will take a series of two-hour tests beginning each morning at 8. The schedule is: Monday — reading; Wednesday and Thursday — writing; Friday — science; and Nov. 17 — math.
We will not have a language arts packet this week, and mystery book reports are due Thursday. The next book project covers nonfiction, with students making trading cards covering information from their texts. If students already have ideas for their science project, they might do their book project on the same topic.
Current academic focuses include:
Reading — Novel study with Trouble River
Writing — Letter writing
Science — Energy, force, and motion
Social studies — Earliest Texans
Math — Adding and subtracting with fractions
Social emotional learning — Conversations and compliments
