Our grade-level approach for correcting work that falls below standards might not be the best fit for some of our students, so we’re going to try something different.
Students will no longer receive a correction form with a date by which corrections are due. Instead correcting failed work will be optional.
Students receive their graded work at the start of each week, and it’s sent home that day in their weekly folders. If students have graded work that falls below 70 percent and they — or their parents — would like to correct it, the student may do so.
Corrections must be completed in color pencil on the original paper or on separate paper stapled to the original. All corrections must be turned in by Friday of the week the assignment was returned to the student.
As always, I can help students when time allows in class, during study hall, and often before or after school. Please encourage your child to seek extra support when needed; this will be a critical skill for them in the coming years.
I’d like to try this for several weeks and am anxious for feedback from students and their parents. Please contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
